Background
Alma Rood is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Nursing at 亚洲情色's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
She joined Decker's nursing faculty in 2015, first as adjunct clinical staff, and then as a clinical instructor, lecturer and course coordinator before taking her current role.
During her tenure, she developed and continues to teach an online hospice and palliative care course for undergraduate programs and an additional palliative care course for the graduate nursing programs. These courses prepare students for valuable training in managing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients with serious illnesses by providing skills in symptom management, communication and interprofessional communication.
Rood鈥檚 nursing background includes community health, wound care, leadership, clinical documentation, legal nursing, acute and long-term home care, hospice, and palliative care case management. Her research interests are in end-of-life care, especially in hospice and palliative care in the home care setting, where she seeks to teach and provide compassionate end-of-life care.
She received a MS in nursing education, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Rood practices part-time in a hospice home care setting as a case manager.
