Teaching As Research (TAR) Projects

CIRTL@Bing
Teaching As Research (TAR) Project

The CIRTL@Bing isn鈥檛 about becoming an education researcher, it's about becoming the kind of educator whose work helps others grow, too. By choosing an area of your teaching practice for examination and innovation, you'll practice key professional skills including critical thinking, reflexive practice, research, and analysis. The CIRTL@Bing community will be there to help you along the way.

鈥淲hat鈥檚 one small change I could make to help my students learn more, engage more, or succeed more?鈥

As you begin to ask yourself this question, in the Practitioner level, you'll need to consider what will come next in the Scholar level: if you think that you'll want to share this learning more broadly and with specifics, the CIRTL@Bing team will work with you through the appropriate steps of ethical research and IRB approval. This won't be the path for everyone, which is where the CIRTL@Bing learning communities will be great places to share your learning, as well.

After completing your TAR,  you鈥檒l walk away with:

  • A clear story of your growth as a teacher
  • A project that shows you don鈥檛 just teach鈥攜ou lead with evidence
  • A polished teaching portfolio that makes search committees take notice
  • Confidence to step forward as a mentor and a voice in your teaching community
