New scholarship opportunity for MSW and RN-BS nursing students
The NYS Career Pathways Training program provides financial and job placement support to healthcare students in exchange for working in underserved communities

In today鈥檚 rapidly changing healthcare landscape, it is more critical than ever to commit to serving vulnerable populations. However, many aspiring healthcare professionals face significant financial burdens due to rising education costs and increasing student debt.
Recognizing those challenges and the importance of investing in those willing to care for others, the seeks to strengthen the healthcare workforce across the state by providing education, training and job placement support to healthcare professionals newly entering the job market or those looking to advance their careers.
The CPT program is administered by the Iroquois Healthcare Association and funded by the New York State Department of Health to support those entering or advancing in healthcare careers. Eligible New York state residents receive full tuition, books and fees to pursue education in 13 healthcare fields. Select out-of-state residents from New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Vermont are also eligible, provided they are employed by a healthcare provider in New York state. Participants must complete their degree by Spring 2027 and commit to three years of service with a qualifying healthcare provider serving at least 30% Medicaid-reliant or uninsured patients, fulfilling the requirement by 2031.
Current demographic trends reveal persistent healthcare disparities, underscoring the importance of programs like CPT. Beyond alleviating educational costs, this initiative invests in the long-term stability of healthcare workforces in underserved areas. Supporting students who commit to serving Medicaid members and uninsured individuals ensures the healthcare system remains responsive to the needs of diverse populations.
Many students interested in healthcare are motivated by the desire to positively impact the lives of others. The Career Pathways Training Program offers a sustainable way for students to finance their education and serve their communities. This allows these future healthcare professionals to focus on what drives them: providing care, advocacy and support to those who need it most.
