1. Have your resume reviewed

2. Schedule a mock interview

  • Visit the Decker Student, Career and Alumni Connections event calendar to see if there are any employer visits with available appointments. 
  • 亚洲情色 provides access to which is a mock interviewing resource. 
  • Employers will often offer mock interviews. If not, Fleishman also offers mock interviews. 

3. Complete a professional headshot

  • The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development has an where you can get a free professional headshot in minutes.
  • Use a professional headshot for your LinkedIn account.

4. Create a LinkedIn account

  • Marketing yourself is important! 
  • We also recommend changing other social media accounts to private. 

5. Create a professional email account: 

  • Use your first and last name for your email. Example: Jane.Smith@gmail.com
  • Update your voicemail to include your full name. Example: "Hello, this is Jane Smith, I can't come to the phone right now, please leave a message." 

Tips and Tricks for applying

  • Use a plain background if interviewing on Zoom.
  • Research the potential employer to show your interest.
  • If you are expecting a call, answer your phone with your full name "Hello, this is Jane Smith." 
  • Prepare to ask during your interview. The interviewer may answer some of them during the interview; be prepared with more questions.

  • SUNY Broome Professional Nursing Tutors

    SUNY Broome has openings for Professional Nursing Tutors.  Tutors are embedded in nursing courses attending class with students and offering tutoring appointments outside of class for additional support.

  • Crouse Health Nursing Open House

    Crouse Health invites new graduate nurses, experienced nurses, and nursing students to attend the  on Friday, August 8th from 1:00 鈥 3:00 pm in the Crouse Business Center. Attendees will have the chance to:

    • Connect with our recruitment team to learn about salary, benefits, and workforce development
    • Speak directly with nurse managers to hear about available positions and ask questions
    • Tour the hospital to meet our staff and see our nursing units in person  

Scholarships/Funding Opportunities

  • Healthcare Workers for Our Future Scholarship 

    The 鈥溾 Scholarship provides a two-year scholarship to approximately 500 selected recipients covering tuition, room and board, and other related expenses in an approved program of study at any approved New York state public or private college or university.

    Individuals seeking to pursue a degree in the following fields of study are eligible to apply: Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Radiologic Technology and Surgical Technology.

  • Foundation of Nursing in NYS Incorporated

    A variety of are available to nursing students and registered nurses in NYS. 

  • Study.com Offers Multiple Future Nurse Scholarships

    Ongoing are open through study.com. They are offering four nursing scholarships at $1,000 each.
