GIS Core Facility Applications

The following applications were created using ArcGIS Online. We have an ArcGIS Online Organization Account and you can join! Instructions for access.

Our facility is also actively assisting other faculty and students from various departments with aspects of their research that involve Geo-Technologies.

Johnson City Redevelopment: The Health Sciences Campus

We developed a that tracked the neighborhood changes that occurred surrounding the newly built School of Pharmacy and the relocation of the School of Nursing. Our GIS Facility and Geography Department worked closely with the University President and other key officials, who have bought into the technology. We have had Faculty, Staff, Graduate and Undergraduate students involved with various aspects of the project. The neighborhood where the school is being built is struggling with crime, vacant properties, and poverty. We believe gentrification will occur in this area and want to track both the good and bad effects of these processes. We were able to track changes by looking at the same datasets over time.

3D Mapping of Easter Island (Rapa Nui)

Anthropoly professor, Dr. Carl Lipo and other Archaeologists used GIS to develop a digital twin of Easter Island, helping them research its settlements and disprove the common story of ecological collapse. They combined drone and satellite imagery in to uncover evidence about the island鈥檚 past. Using this data we created a to explore the data.

Broome County Resources Apps

We worked with the Broome County Food Council and The Food Bank of the Southern Tier to create interactive maps that show the locations of all and in Broome County.  A was created to describe the status of food insecurity in the County as well as what is being done to remedy the issue.

PROPS Tracker Web Map

This tracks the monthly winners of the PROPS (Peer Recognition of Outstanding Professional Service) award. The award empowers 亚洲情色 staff to recognize campus colleagues who do quietly great work.
