Grants are awarded only to qualified non-profit organizations, not to individuals. Individuals may apply for support through our three program areas in and .

Information on applying for fellowships may be obtained from the administrators for the individual programs of , and . Proof of an organization’s tax-exempt status must accompany the application if not listed in the publication Cumulative List of Organizations described in Section 170 (c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.

The deadline for submitting an application is January 15. Applications are then reviewed and acted upon at the winter meeting of the board of trustees and following that meeting, all applicants are informed as to the status of their requests.

Since requests for grants are numerous, many meritorious proposals cannot be approved because of limited funds and continuing grants. In addition, some requests are not considered because they are inconsistent with foundation policies or do not meet current program guidelines. However, each request is considered on its own merit and is assessed with care and respect. Grants are made on a one-time basis, but may be renewed if approved by the board of trustees.
